Driving through the streets of South Florida, you might see an antique van covered in vibrant colored art cruise past you. That truck is known as the Art Truck, which is essentially a paint studio on wheels founded by Nathaly Diaz, an experienced and dedicated Colombian artist based in South Florida.
The Art Truck’s mission is to promote art awareness and creative expression within kids and teens by offering a mobile service that provides all the equipment and supplies needed to host a painting and crafts party anywhere. Diaz and her team have a passion for kids and aspire to show the children they work with that they can accomplish amazing things just by using their imagination and being creative.
A sunny Sunday of spring of 2021, Diaz brought the Art Truck out to the christian church, New Beginnings Praise and Worship Center, to guide their children through a morning of Arts & Crafts activities. Nathaly and her team came up with a theme of Noah’s Arc, a story from the bible, and created three activities for the children to accomplish, while also making sure to teach them a lesson along the way. The Art Truck provides free services to churches, non profit organizations, and communities in need at least once per month. Diaz and her team knows that not every community or organization has the access or means to expose their children to art and that is why she decided to include this type of non-profit work in the Art Truck. “Art can be therapy for most kids, and it can help them to develop their thinking skills and creativity. That is why I think it’s so important for us to give children the access and means to create it.”, says Diaz.
The Art Truck is always on the lookout for an organization or a community that could benefit from their services and invites you to be on the lookout as well! Do you know of an organization, church, school or community whose children could benefit from a day of Arts & Crafts activities.
